Elena Joung, a Student Council Associate, shares her experience from the latest Fall 2024 student excursion to Gyeongju Hwangnidan-Gil—a golden path through Korea's ancient heart, where royal tombs, whispering pines, and timeless charm lead travelers on a soulful journey through history's embrace.

The fall season, when the green leaves of trees turn yellow and red, was the perfect time for the Student Council to take us on an excursion to Gyeongju, famous for its maple trees. On the way, we enjoyed hot dogs at a rest stop, immersing ourselves in Korean culture. With the guidance of the Student Council, we arrived safely in Gyeongju.

Upon arrival, all the students from SolBridge took a group photo in front of Cheomseongdae. Visiting Cheomseongdae allows you to experience the history of ancient astronomy. The observatory, made of 362 granite stones symbolizing the days in a year, was used to observe stars and weather patterns. Nearby, the traditional Hanok Village offers a glimpse into the beauty of traditional Korean architecture.

Hwangnidan-gil, lined with charming cafes and shops, was a joy to stroll through. One must-try food in Gyeongju is the "Sibwon Bread", a coin-shaped bread filled with mozzarella cheese that is absolutely delicious. Lastly, taking a ride on an electric car around the city of Gyeongju allows you to relax and enjoy the blend of tradition and modernity.

Gyeongju is a city where history and culture come alive, offering a variety of unique experiences. It’s a beautiful blend of nature and heritage that provides a peaceful yet enriching atmosphere. I am grateful to the Student Council for making my first trip to Gyeongju such a wonderful memory, and I’m looking forward to the next excursion soon!
