Competition: Driving Global Innovation and Collaboration New
Since its inception in 2013, the International Business Plan Competition (IBPC) at SolBridge International School of Business has provided a dynamic platform for students to explore entrepreneurial solutions and tackle pressing business challenges. Over the years, the competition has become a meeting ground for talented individuals eager to make their mark on global business.
This year, the 12th IBPC adopted a two-phase structure, starting with a qualifying round in September 2024, followed by the final round from January 13th to 17th, 2025, at SolBridge. In collaboration with Briolf Group, an established company in the chemical industry, the theme focused on crafting strategies for “Internationalization Strategies of Briolf Group: Entering the Competitive Korean Market.”
A Celebration of Talent and Diversity
Nine distinguished institutions participated in this year’s competition, showcasing a wealth of talent and diverse perspectives:

These teams faced rigorous rounds, where they demonstrated their creativity and analytical skills by solving real-world business problems.
Real-World Challenges: Business Plan Case Tasks
The theme presented participants with three critical tasks:
Montana Plant in South Korea: Designing a strategic plan to establish a spray paint manufacturing plant for Montana Colors in South Korea.
Expansion Plan for Selected Briolf Companies: Developing a comprehensive entry and growth strategy for Briolf Group’s subsidiaries in South Korea.
Opportunities in the South Korean Chemical Sector: Identifying key opportunities in specialty chemicals to establish a strong local presence.
Strategic Partnership with Briolf Group
The partnership with Briolf Group enriched the competition by introducing real-world complexities to the challenges. The insights of Mr. Manuel Sainz, Asia Regional Director of Briolf Group, brought invaluable industry expertise, emphasizing the need for practical and innovative approaches to market entry.
Inspiring Insights
Participants also had the opportunity to learn from Professor Gilbert Tumibay of SolBridge, who delivered a thought-provoking lecture on internationalization strategies. His guidance provided essential frameworks to approach the competition’s multifaceted tasks.

The 12th IBPC celebrated more than just competition—it fostered collaboration, inspired innovation, and equipped students with the tools to navigate complex global markets.
