When it comes to SolBridge’s lecture series program, from the school’s Platinum Lectures to the new Wiseman Lecture series, each one is special given the distinguished personalities who share their insights and experiences with students and faculty as one of the SolBridge’s important network pillars.

This importance of these network pillars was the highlight of the 17th Platinum Lecture, when Sohn Jie-ae, CEO of Arirang TV, signed an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) with Dr. John Endicott prior to her presentation. To be sure, the MOU signed with Arirang TV will open many opportunities for students and faculty from internships for students to business programs in which students and faculty can participate.

“This is the beginning of a long and beautiful relationship,” Sohn said, at the beginning of her speech, thanking all those who turned out for this most auspicious moment.

During her motivational and inspirational speech, Sohn talked about the path she took to becoming a global leader, from her early days as a journalist in Seoul, first as a writer for The New York Times and the CNN Seoul Bureau Chief to presidential spokesperson and her current position as CEO of Arirang TV.

“I’ll be giving you a quick course on how far Korea has come in the past twenty to thirty years,” she said. “Korea was a very different place back then.”

Although she studied political science and diplomacy in college, she soon discovered that journalism was her real passion in life. Her love for talking to people and writing led to her first job reporting for a business magazine in 1985.
