Pleasure to meet you!

My name is Tian Zhouyuan. I am a student who began studying the Ph.D. Program at SolBridge International School of Business in Fall 2021

 

Q2: Could you please let us know why did you choose to pursue Ph.D. at SolBridge?

I chose to pursue my Ph.D. at SolBridge International School of Business because of its unique ability to blend global perspectives with cutting-edge business research. During my time as an exchange student here I was inspired by the dynamic international environment, the passionate faculty, and the forward-thinking curriculum that bridges theory with practice. SolBridge offered me the perfect platform to push boundaries, explore new ideas, and contribute to meaningful research in a globally connected academic community.

 

Q3: Could you tell us about your experience as a Ph.D. student at SolBridge International School of Business? Let us know some of your memorable moments while studying here

My experience as a Ph.D. student at SolBridge International School of Business has been deeply enriching, both academically and personally. The school’s vibrant international environment and emphasis on interdisciplinary research provided the ideal foundation for my academic journey.

One of the most memorable moments was presenting my preliminary findings at the Humane Futures Symposium. The encouragement and constructive feedback from faculty and peers significantly boosted my confidence.

Another highlight was collaborating with my fellow classmates to participate in the Woosong University Business Plan Competition. This experience challenged us to think creatively, work as a team, and apply our knowledge to develop innovative solutions. It was an exciting opportunity to showcase our ideas and learn from others.

Lastly, the strong bond among Ph.D. students, whether during late-night study sessions or celebrating milestones together, added a sense of belonging and support that made this journey truly unforgettable

 

Q4: Please let us know the field of your research, the reason you chose it and how it is contributing to the world?

My research focuses on the interdisciplinary field of marketing and media, specifically exploring how various media platforms influence consumer behavior and brand perception. I chose this area because of the rapid evolution of digital media and its increasing impact on consumer decision-making. The intersection of marketing strategies and media technologies presents exciting opportunities to understand how brands can effectively communicate with audiences in a rapidly changing media environment.

The research contributes by addressing the shifting media consumption patterns in today’s world. It helps bridge the gap between traditional marketing principles and emerging media trends, offering practical solutions for businesses to remain relevant and responsive to consumer needs.

 

Q5: Please let us know your future plan after graduating from SolBridge

After graduating from SolBridge, my plan is to continue pursuing a career in academia and research, with a focus on marketing and media studies. I am interested in applying my knowledge and skills to consulting, helping businesses develop innovative marketing strategies that leverage the latest media trends.  My long-term goal is to combine teaching, research, and practical industry applications to make a meaningful impact in both the academic and business worlds.

 

Q6: Do you have any advice for students who are planning to study Ph.D.?

My advice for students planning to pursue a Ph.D. is to choose a research topic that excites and motivates you. A Ph.D. journey is challenging and requires long-term commitment, so having a true interest can help maintain motivation and perseverance.

It’s also important to build a strong support network of mentors, peers, and collaborators. Seeking guidance from advisors, participating actively in academic discussions, and staying open to feedback can significantly enhance both professional and personal development.

Lastly, effective time management and prioritizing self-care are equally important. Pursuing a Ph.D. is not only about earning a degree—it’s about contributing new knowledge, refining research skills, and achieving meaningful growth.
